Abstract:   (223 Views)
In the present study, at first the effect of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole concentration on the corrosion behavior of copper at 25°C in 3wt%. NaCl solution was investigated via electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and weight loss tests. The highest inhibition efficiency of 99.34% and 93% was obtained according to electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and weight loss tests, respectively at the concentration of 90ppm. Scanning electron microscopy micrographs of the corroded surfaces confirmed the results of corrosion results. The effect of temperature on the corrosion performance of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole in 3wt%. NaCl solution was also investigated by EIS test at temperatures of 40, 55 and 70° C. Results showed that the temperature increament can increase the corrosion rate of copper more than 10 trimes compare to room temperature. Finally, it was found that 2-mercaptobenzothiazole can acts as an effective inhibitor for copper corrosion at high temperatures.
